Said I’ll live by candlelight and make the moon my home
Tie up the tides as they rise and as they fall
What can I give? What can I hold?
Should I even ask these things at all?
So I live by candlelight and darn if I know
I'm walking down this road alone
But watch the earth
For a grid will unfold
Until I find my golden home
I left that world of dreams and entered one anew
A planetary truth is born of lightning
There's nothing left when you suffocate the hours
Spent beyond what time had tried to offer
So I live by candlelight and darn if I know
I'm walking down this road alone
But watch the earth, for a grid will unfold
Until I find my golden home
There's a ghost making up its mind down into my bones
Isn't this what you brought me here for?
This parallel of backwards gifts lifts into my eyes
Isn't this what I felt the need for?
Oh child, you keep living that way, in your own time
This feeding back of circles and this loop for which I'm thrown
The moon will never keep us from unfolding
I'll point my way back home until my fingertips turn blue
There is no me and there is no you
So I live by candlelight and darn if I know
I'm walking down this road alone
But watch the earth
For a grid will unfold
Until I find my golden home

I was on a train travelling to Seefeld in Austria and had nothing but the Alps to look over from the windows. This was a perfect compliment to the environment I was in Robert A Johnson

Heard WB on a late BC night. Wow.
Sometimes feels familiar, then "Can't Go Home" pops up as the jewel that says there is more here than you thought! Anthony B Cook

Shane Butler (Quilt) formed a band with his love interest Caity Shaffer and made great indie rock/pop tunes with lyrics that full of art, poetry and complex human emotions. How to choose a favorite track? Goodness, The epic finale, "Takes One To Know One"? The rollicking "Cut To The Quick"? The folky "Common Ground" and "Vital Sign" featuring the swoony, swaying vocals of Caity? So, so many! But I will choose the ever-lovely "Gamblers On A Dime" which I can listen to constantly! If Wooden Shjips traded their sails for a prairie schooner, this is what you might hear them playing around the campfire at night on the Great Plains: homespun country-rock with a hint of psychedelia. Wonderful stuff, from start to finish. neu-mann
